Senate Ag Committee ranking member Debbie Stabenow along with New York Senator Charles Schumer want President Trump to withdraw the nomination of Sam Clovis as USDA Undersecretary of Research, Education and Economics. Iowa Farmers Union President Aaron Lehman says many of their members share the Senator’s concerns about Clovis’s nomination.

Iowa Soybean Association President Rolland Schnell says he knows Clovis personally and thinks he’ll do a good job at USDA if confirmed. He also agrees with Clovis on being skeptic about climate change.

Senators Stabenow and Schumer have expressed concern that Clovis isn’t a scientist and doesn’t have the background necessary to adequately handle the USDA Undersecretary job. Lehman says most of his members agree with the Senators.

Stabenow says if the President doesn’t withdraw Clovis, she’ll fight hard against his nomination.
