Iowa Farm Leader Calls EPA Proposal Outrageous

The Environmental Protection Agency has extended the comment period on its proposed Waters of the U.S. rule. The proposed rule is an attempt to clarify the Clean Water Act. Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Hill while pleased with the comment extension decision says EPA’s proposal is borderline outrageous and says it’s a regulatory overreach that now covers all tribuatory waters.
Hill says if the proposed rule is adopted it will prevent most normal farming practices and will require an expensive permit.
The comment period on the 370 page proposal was to have ended July 21 but now is extended to October 20.
