Iowa Farm Groups Disappointed King Loses House Ag Committee Seat

Iowa farm groups leaders are disappointed with Representative Steve King losing his position on the House Agriculture Committee. King was stripped of all his committee assignments due to ‘’racist remarks he made”. Iowa Farmers Union President Aaron Lehman says it was a bad time to lose an Ag Committee member with all the uncertainty agriculture is facing.

He says they’re also concerned King won’t be at the table to push the unfinished business in Washington, including implementation of the new farm bill.

Lehman is pleased, however, that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has named new Iowa Congresswoman and Democrat Cindy Axne to the panel.

Lehman adds it was a shame to lose an experienced voice on the House Ag Committee.
