Iowa Farm Group Worried About Ag Concentration

Iowa Farmers Union members are concerned about the amount of increasing concentration in agriculture.  Iowa Farmers Union President Jana Linderman says that’s despite Tyson Food’s recent sales of its Mexican and Brazil poultry facilities to Pilgrim’s Pride and J-B-S.

Linderman says while they’re not huge those local markets at least provide producers a niche opportunity for their products.

She says another concentration worry her group has is the recent planned acquisition of Hillshire Brands by Tyson Foods.

Linderman says Iowa Farmers Union wants the Justice Department to thoroughly review the proposed Tyson-Hillshire merger.
