Iowa Farmers Union members who just wrapped up their state convention have listed the new farm bill as their major national priority moving forward. President Aaron Lehman says they’re concerned about having enough funding to pass a viable farm bill and the negative impacts on it they see coming from the tax reform legislation.
He says another major concern of their members is the need for Congress to address Health Care and provide affordability and accessibility for farmers and ranchers.
Lehman says their primary policy at the state level revolves around addressing Iowa’s water quality needs in a way that benefits agriculture and the environment.
Lehman wants the state to provide opportunities for the government to work with private partnerships in helping farmers and ranchers improve water quality.
