President Elect Joe Biden is expected to nominate former U.S. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack as U.S.Ag Secretary. So far he is being welcomed back by farm groups. Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Hill says they have a lot of respect for the work Vilsack did previously and he brings considerable experience to the job.

Hill says the U.S. has trade momentum going with the current deals. He expects Vilsack will keep that going including holding China accountable on the Phase One deal.

He says its also important to have a Secretary that represents Midwestern ag since the House Ag Committee leadership and members are from more urban areas.

Vilsack is currently CEO of the U.S. Dairy Export Council.
