Iowa lawmakers are continuing to work on a tax relief bill. The House and Senate have different versions but State Farm Bureau members are hopeful legislators can combine those plants to achieve solid tax legislation. Iowa Farm Bureau Vice President Joe Heinrich says they want a bill that is fair to all of the state’s citizens.
He says one of the most important components for agriculture in the state tax legislation is the inclusion of Section 179 expensing.
Heinrich says Section 179 not only helps farmers, but the overall economy.
The tax measures under consideration include the Governor’s plan, which involves $1.7 billion in reductions through 2023. The Senate plan provides $1 billion in tax relief.
