Iowa Farm Bureau members are hoping that Trade Promotion Authority legislation receives full approval from both the House and Senate. The Senate Finance and House Ways and Means Committees both sent the bill to the full floor for consideration. Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Hill says that the President needs negotiation opportunities in order for modern free trade agreements to move forward.
He says he’s pleased that Senate Finance committee members left the currency manipulation amendment out of the TPA bill, because he saw it as a potential source of problems.
Hill says a good TPA measure is necessary for both the Trans Pacific and Trans Atlantic deals, and any other subsequent agreements, to advance.
