Iowa Farm Bureau Supports Define WOTUS Act Legislation

Iowa Senator Joni Ernst has introduced the Define WOTUS Act. The legislation calls for codifying a definition of the Waters of the U.S. rule and reasserts Congressional authority to define the term. Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Hill says his group backs the measure.

The Obama era WOTUS rule gave the federal government authority to regulate water in 97 percent of Iowa. Hill says that’s ridiculous.

Hill says its proper for Congress to weigh in on the definition of any rule regarding the Clean Water Act.

Ernst says it’s the responsibility of Congress to make a new reasonable WOTUS definition permanent.
