Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt says he’s in the process of reworking the national ambient or quality standards for the Clean Air Act. Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Hill is pleased Pruitt is looking at redoing those standards which the administrator hopes to see finalized by December of 2020.
Pruitt wants to streamline and standardize the review process to differentiate science and policy judgements and to issue timely implementation regulations and guidance. Hill says that he’s looking at basing the regulation on science is positive.
He says it’s critical the EPA administrator differentiate between factories and farms with any regulations.
Pruitt has backed off of the standards that were tightened during the Obama administration and Hill thinks that is also positive.
