Iowa Farm Bureau is focused on biofuels expansion through state and federal policy efforts in the new year.  President Brent Johnson says they’re hopeful the Iowa Biofuels Standard will be reintroduced in the state legislative session after being narrowly defeated in 2021.

He says they have some work to do to rebuild consumer support and get the legislative backing needed to get a biofuels mandate across the finish line this session.

Federally they’re pressing EPA to uphold the Renewable Fuels Standard RVO levels, following reports the administration may lower the proposed blending levels from 15 billion to 14 billion gallons to satisfy petroleum interests.

Johnson says they also support Governor Reynolds move to ask EPA to provide a waiver to allow E15 use year-round in Iowa.
