The Iowa Corn Promotion Board along with U.S. Grains Council hosted a trade team from Mexico the first part of this month at the Rod Pierce Farm near Woodward. Pierce who’s been farming for close to 50 years says it was great to have the Mexican trade officials see his operation first hand.
He says Mexico which is our top corn export market is very interested in dried distillers grains or DDGs. Pierce also says at this time there not allowed to use ethanol to fuel their vehicles., which was a startling development to him.
Pierce who’s a director for the Iowa Corn Promotion Board says the trade team asked about any weather challenges Iowa has seen recently and what effect did that have on their grain. He mentioned the Derecho which did a lot of damage plus some hail that was seen this year.
The Mexican group had representatives from the feed milling industry, service providers , traders, grain and DDGS customers
