Iowa Corn President Says Cruz Hold on Northey Nomination Strictly Political

Texas Senator Ted Cruz has asked for a meeting with the President on the Renewable Fuel Standard and is holding up the USDA nomination of Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey to achieve that. Iowa Corn Growers Association President Mark Recker says the holdup is nothing more than politics and the President needs to keep the RFS intact.

He says Cruz needs to quit holding up the nomination and let the process move forward.

Recker says attacks on the RFS aren’t anything new and he’s not surprised with this development.

Recker says his group, along with NCGA, are monitoring the situation and will weigh in if an attempt is made to dismantle the RFS.
