The United States Department of Agriculture has paid out $6.23 billion in Coronavirus Food Assistance Program relief to farmers and ranchers. Livestock producers have received $3.15 billion in payments while $1.1 billion has gone to corn growers across the country. Iowa is the leading state for CFAP assistance with $652.1 million. Iowa Corn Grower’s Association President Jim Greif says those funds are justified given the effects of the pandemics as well as markets.

He says it’s no surprise the seven top states for CFAP aid are those that have the most ag production.

Greif says besides the federal aid it’s critical Congress and the Administration continue to work for trade deals and market expansion.

Iowa was the state that received the most CFAP aid, followed by Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Texas, California and South Dakota.
