The Iowa Legislature has reached its second funnel week, eliminating measures for this session and allowing some other to press forward for final consideration. Included in that are some important issues for Iowa Corn Grower’s Association members. ICGA’s Director of Government Relations Mindy Larsen Poldberg says their main priority a biofuels bill is moving ahead after passing the ways and means committee with its next stop, the Iowa House.

She says another important component of that bill if approved doesn’t go into effect until 2028.

Poldberg says another measure that survived the funnel week is legislation that would completely eliminate the inheritance tax.

Those lineal descendants would include passing an operation down from a mother to a son or son to a grandson. Poldberg says they also would be in favor another measure that is still up for consideration that would exempt PPP loans from state taxes.
