During a House Agriculture Committee hearing this morning, Iowa Congressman Randy Feenstra called on Ag Committee Chairman David Scott to hold a hearing on exploring issues with fairness and transparency in the cattle market.

He says many independent cattle producers are fighting to keep from losing money while packer profits continue to rise.

Feenstra says there are several bills proposed to attempt to address the broken cattle markets and those need to be discussed before Congress reauthorizes Livestock Mandatory Price reporting.

Feenstra says if the Ag Committee fails to take action on this, within 6 months there will be many independent cattle producers who will go out of business.
