Iowa Cattlemen Association members have two state legislative priorities going into 2015. Newly Elected President Dr. Phil Reemtsma says environmental and road funding are their top issues. He says they want to continue the good working relationship they’ve developed with the State DNR and EPA on feedlot inspections.
Reemtsma says their membership also supports increased funding for the state road’s.
Iowa’s roads have been deteriorating and there hasn’t been a fuel tax increase since 1989 to help pay for the upkeep. Legislators are expected to talk about a fuel tax increase during their regular session which begins in January.
