This week Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, President Trump’s nominee to be the next ambassador to China, appeared before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He told the committee about the need to improve market access to U.S. agricultural products in China including beef, chicken and distiller grains. Iowa Cattlemen’s Association President Mike Cline says his group agrees with the Governor and is hoping for full access for U.S. beef soon.
He says with their growing population there is huge market potential for U.S. beef exports to China.
Cline says Branstad has made many trips to China and knows the value of building relationships to foster trade.
Branstad also told the Senate Foreign Relations committee that he was in on the early stages of opening the Japanese market and wants to see the same access in China.
