Iowa Cattleman Says Cattlemen’s Beef Board Gets A Clean Audit

A management review of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board by USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service verified that the Beef Board is operating within the provisions of the act and order.  Cattlemen’s Beef Board Audit Committee member and Iowa cattlemen Kent Pruismann says the beef checkoff is in line with all applicable federal laws, regulations and policies.

Pruismann says he had long heard that the beef checkoff was being misspent, but through this process he believes  the firewall is in place.

He says some of the rub has come from cattlemen that don’t want NCBA to be a contractor and use check off dollars.  However, he says NCBA is also being responsible with those dollars.  He says CBB is also trying to be as transparent as possible through regular review of financial statements.
