Preservation of Rural Iowa Alliance members are working with State Representative Bobby Kaufman to push for approval of his bill which would provide landowner’s eminent domain protections. Alliance President Carolyn Sheridan says the bill calls for the revoking of energy project applications if there is no movement within two years of their first informational meeting. She’s says it’s aimed at the Clean Line Wind Energy project, which her group opposes.

She says the legislation is needed so landowners aren’t left in limbo and worried about having eminent domain imposed against them.

Sheridan says the Clean Line project has been in limbo for some time.

Sheridan says Kaufman’s bill has passed out of subcommittee and will be before the oversight committee he chairs in the next two weeks. If it is passed it will then go to the House floor.
