Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says Iowa has done a good job of utilizing conservation methods to reduce soil erosion, prevent nitrate run-off and improve the quality of water.  Naig was a featured speaker at a political fundraiser event held last night in Le Mars.  Naig says we should continue with voluntary conservation practices, instead of mandatory regulated conservation methods.  However, Naig says Iowans need to do even more conservation practices in the future.  Naig says we need to keep farmers productive.  He says with food prices at a 40-year high, it is critical to keep farmers producing additional food, so we won’t have food shortages, and supply chain issues.
