The Iowa Agriculture Clean Water Alliance has released their annual study of the Raccoon River. This year’s report shows higher nitrate levels present than in the past. Alliance Executive Director Roger Wolf says it was mainly a function of the weather.

Wolf says their using the data from the study to help farmers with water management.

He says it takes more funding to support on-going water quality management and it’s everybody’s job, not just agriculture’s, to address the issue.

Since 1999, the Agriculture Clean Water Alliance has invested $1.5 million in regular monitoring as part of a commitment to improving water quality.
