Over the weekend, nine potential Republican presidential candidates appeared at an Iowa Ag Summit. The nine fielded questions on a number of ag topics with the leading one being biofuel policy and the renewable fuel standard. Iowa Renewable Fuel Association Executive Director Monte Shaw says the RFS will be one of the major issues in the next Presidential race.
Shaw says his group is interested in hearing from the Democratic Presidential candidates. He says they were invited to the summit but chose not to appear. He says they’d like to know how those candidates stand on the RFS.
Shaw says it appears that pro RFS candidates at the summit included Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, Lindsey Graham, Rick Santorum and Scott Walker. He says anti RFS candidates included Ted Cruz and George Pataki. Shaw says they want more clarification where Rick Perry and Jeb Bush stand on the RFS.
