Iowa Secretary of Ag Bill Northey is commending the Iowa House for passing a resolution calling for California to repeal the law that unconstitutionally limits the sale of eggs in the state.  Northey says allowing California to dictate production methods to farmers in Iowa or any other state sets a dangerous precedent for the entire ag industry.

Northey is also pleased Governor Branstad has joined a multi-state lawsuit challenging California’s action.

He says the California regulation would hurt Iowa as the nation’s leading egg producer.

Northey says he appreciates the leadership of the Governor, Attorney General and the Iowa House to protect the rights of Iowa farmers to sell their safe eggs in all 50 states.
