Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey is excited about attendance figures at the Iowa State Fair and the possibility of him becoming a USDA Undersecretary. Attendance for the first few days of the fair was well above 2016 and Northey says they’ll be well over 1 million people when the show concludes.
While at the fair, WNAX Farm Director Michelle Rook also asked Northey if ther was any announcement forthcoming on his nomination as an Undersecretary. Northey has been mentioned as a possibility at USDA for weeks now and he did confirm he is being vetted.
Northey says he is impressed with U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue and the team he has already started to assemble.
The President has nominated Steve Censky for Deputy and Ted McKinney and Sam Clovis as Undersecretaries at USDA.
