Biofuels organizations, farm groups and elected officials are hailing President Donald Trump’s decision to have the Environmental Protection Agency initiate a rulemaking process to allow use of E15 year-round. Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig says the decision is great for farmers, the biofuels industry and consumers.
He says having year-round access for E15 means more corn going into ethanol production. He’s hoping the EPA completes the rule making process in time for next summer’s use of the fuel.
Naig says the E15 announcement follows a series of victories for the nation’s farmers and ranchers and he’s hoping they’ll be able to build upon that going forward.
Naig says once in place, year-round access of E15 will help create additional demand for farmers who are hurting from oversupplies and low crop prices.
