The Iowa Department of Agriculture is offering a cost share program for conservation practices. State Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig says they have nearly $8 million in funding available. It’s part of the effort to get farmers to participate in the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Management program.

He says there’s also funding for those using conservation tillage practices on their operations.

Naig says participation in the Nutrient Reduction Management strategy has grown and it has been quite successful over the past six years.

Naig says farmers interested in the cost share program can go to the Iowa Agriculture Department’s web site. They can also check with their local soil and water conservation district or county NRCS office.
