The double deck Meridian Bridge over the Missouri River at Yankton will turn one hundred years old next year.
The walking – biking bridge is now part of the Yankton City Parks Department.
City Manager Amy Leon says while they aren’t aware of any issues with the bridge now, they do have some money set aside for future underwater inspections…..

Leon says it could be expensive to do a complete inspection….

Leon says citizens need to be aware of the significance of the bridge and possible future costs….

The bridge was replaced as the primary link between South Dakota and Nebraska as Highway 81 by the Discovery Bridge in 2010.
