An investigation of the Nebraska State Patrol accuses former Superintendent Brad Rice of exerting inappropriate influence over four internal affairs investigations.
The report also says the patrol’s review of two allegations of excessive force raises suspicions of dishonesty and dereliction of duty.
Governor Pete Ricketts says the investigation of the patrol by his staff raises serious questions. . .

Ricketts says it appears Rice attempted to re-write an accident report in which a state trooper used a tactical maneuver in which the driver being pursued died. . .

Ricketts fired Rice after receiving preliminary results of the investigation in late June. Five others have been placed on administrative leave, until their cases have been completed.
