The area between the North Dakota and South Dakota border stretching south to Kansas City is known as the Interstate 29 Corridor and according to an Iowa State dairy specialist, the area is nicknamed as the I-29 Moo University and is well positioned to see expansion within the dairy industry. Fred Hall says the region is home to rich fertile soil, and is home to several dairy farms, and dairy processors.
Hall says available water sources, and a skilled labor force also make this area attractive for the dairy industry.
Hall talks more about the importance of having a skilled labor force in the region.
he says another plus is South Dakota State University, located at Brookings which has a reputable and strong dairy science program, all of which makes the area favorable to the dairy industry.
