A state program to encourage both college students to accept and Nebraska businesses to offer internships now boasts 750 participants.
The Nebraska Internship Program began in 2011. It provides 1-point-5 Million dollars in matching state grants to businesses willing to offer paid internships.
Reinke Manufacturing CEO Chris Roth says his company had four interns through the program last year. He says it gives the company a chance to evaluate the students and the students a chance to evaluate the company. . .
Governor Dave Heineman says it works both to provide college students with experience and to help businesses fill their workforce needs. . .
Half of the interns who participated in the program went to work with the company they interned for after graduating from college.
