Internet Tax Bill Could Pass This Year

A bill that would put sales taxes on internet transactions, and send them to the states may have a chance of passage in Congress this year.

South Dakota Senator John Thune says the “Marketplace Fairness Act” could move on its own, or as part of tax reform………

Thune says while the Senate is solidly supportive, House passage could be a problem……

Thune, who had opposed the bill in the past as a tax increase, voted for it last year…………

The South Dakota Retailers Association has said it could mean thirty to forty million dollars in sales tax revenue per year to the state.
