Sixteen organizations from the United States, Canada and Australia are supporting innovation in wheat including future use of biotechnology. U.S. Wheat Associate’s Steve Mercer says the backing is a commitment to the advancement of biotech traits and a call for further innovation in wheat research.
Mercer says one of the group’s major concerns going forward is over the global supply of wheat.
Mercer says the 16 group’s want to see eventual commercialization of bio tech wheat.
The five U.S. organizations involved in the group include U.S. Wheat Associates, Farm Bureau, Farmers Union, National Association of Wheat Growers and the North American Miller’s Association.
