With the departure of Police Chief Brian Paulsen, Yankton City Manager Amy Nelson says she will ask the city commission to approve the hiring of John Harris as interim chief. Nelson says Harris has been with police departments in Arizona, Illinois and Wyoming.

Paulsen, who has been Chief since 2010, is moving to a job in private security.
