Infrastructure Plan Moving Forward With Focus on Funding

President Donald Trump and Congressional leaders are scheduled to meet again to discuss an infrastructure plan. This week the focus is on funding. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek is encouraged with the progress.

He thinks the President and leadership should seriously consider a 10-cent increase in the fuel tax to help pay for an infrastructure bill.

Steenhoek says it’s critical any infrastructure legislation addresses the needs of agriculture and not just urban interests.

He also says the plan should call for funding to deepen the lower Mississippi River so heavier barges can be used to export more product.
