The bill (HB1191) authorizing the production of industrial hemp in South Dakota will be on the floor of the state Senate Monday.
Governor Kristi Noem again restated her concerns with the bill at her news conference last Friday. She didn’t say if she would veto the bill if it passed.
Senator Craig Kennedy of Yankton says he doesn’t know why the Governor is so strongly opposed…

Forty-one states have authorized some type of production or use of hemp.
Kennedy says they see it as another option for ag producers..

Production of industrial hemp as a cash crop was authorized in the farm bill passed last year by Congress.
