While Governor Dennis Daugaard has proposed a three percent increase in state aid to education for next year, a legislative committee is backing a higher increase.

Bills to push state aid to three point eight percent have been introduced.

McCook Central Superintendent Dr. Dan Swartos says the extra would be appreciated…

Swartos says schools can’t pass on all of increased state aid to teachers…

Swartos says they will have to deficit spend about one hundred thousand dollars this year to cover the teacher raises…

The total increase in state aid will be determined in the final days of the legislative session.
