Law enforcement agencies in South Dakota and Minnesota will be out in full force this weekend along Interstate 90. As a part of an operation to increase safety on the highway during the holiday weekend, South Dakota Highway Patrol Captain Alan Welsh says the roads around the interstate will also be under their radar.

Welsh says they will also be using canine units to enforce criminal drug activity as well.

The operation begins today and will extend into the early hours of tomorrow morning. Welsh says they do this every year before Memorial Day to mark the beginning of the vacation and travel seasons.
