Increased Need for Assistance Among Beginning Farmers

Increased Need for Assistance Among Beginning Farmers

There’s been an increase in the number of beginning farmers seeking help with loans and other financial planning. That’s according to Wyatt Fraas, Farm and Community Assistant Director for the Center for Rural Affairs. He advises those just starting in farming to apply for loans through the USDA Farm Service Agency.

He says many beginning producers have been especially challenged by low commodity prices and the current trade war.

Fraas says it’s critical beginning producers put together a business plan for their operations that they can share with their lender.

Fraas says any new farmers looking for assistance or lending advice can contact them at the Center for Rural Affairs.
