The South Dakota Senate stopped deliberations on HB1069 with a procedural move, and put it off until Wednesday.
The bill, on the fast track to that point, would repeal Initiated Measure 22, which dealt with lobbyists, campaign financing and ethics.
Republican lawmakers said the measure is unconstitutional, and needs to be replaced.

Rick Weiland, with take it back dot org, one of the sponsors of the measure, says the Attorney General has issued an opinion that doesn’t see it that way….

Weiland says the stand alone ethics commission would not be breaking ground…..

Weiland says the emergency clause on the bill is the most alarming part of it…..

Senate debate on the bill will resume on Wednesday.
