Finding a fix for the IM22 repeal will take up considerable time before the end of the 2017 South Dakota legislative session. That initiated measure was approved by voters in November, but was repealed by the legislature earlier in the session over constitutional worries.
Senator Craig Kennedy of Yankton says there will some type of replacement this session……
Kennedy, a democrat, says there are still a number of IM22 replacement bills moving through the process…..
Kennedy says he is a co-sponsor of a bill calling for a summer study of the IM22 issue…..
Kennedy says legislators should be very careful when they attempt to make changes to the initiative and referendum process.
