The 2021 Iowa Legislative session starts on January 11. One of the major issues for state lawmakers will be how to address improving the state’s water quality. That’s according to Iowa Farmers Union President Aaron Lehman.

He says the pandemic brought about the vulnerability in the state’s food system. He says therefore they’d like to see state lawmakers create more opportunities for smaller meat processors.

Lehman says he expects legislators to take up relief measures for property tax payers.

Lehman says state lawmakers will have a lot on their plate to figure out including what to do with the state budget.
