ICON Wants Property Tax Relief And Meat Labeling Bills Passed

Property tax relief and meat labeling are the two issues the Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska want state Senators to tackle in 2019 Unicameral which starting today. Past President Dave Wright says they need find a way to provide relief for landowners on taxes while properly funding education.

He says property taxes are tied to school funding and Senators need to find a way to separate the two.

Wright says they’re also working with a state Senator to introduce a measure that says only meat that comes from animals can be labeled as meat.

Wright says ICON is teaming up with other state groups on the meat labeling legislation.
