Over the weekend the Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska held their state convention in North Platte. President Dave Wright says they decided to focus on two major issues including property taxes and Country of Origin Labeling. He says both rural and urban residents are being hit hard by high property taxes.
He says currently the burden of paying for most of the education in Nebraska falls on property tax payers.
Wright says his group would like to see a former state country of origin labeling program revived as it could help pick up part of the cost of property taxes.
Wright says attendance was down at this year’s convention because they moved it up a month. He says they’ll likely move it back to December next year.
