The Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska have come out in opposition to a pair of brand bills, LB 571 and LB 572 before the Nebraska Legislature. ICON Director and Past President Dave Wright says it’s a matter of economics as both measures contain high fee increases for cattle producers.

He says while those bills increase fees for cow-calf producers it brings all the benefits to registered feedlots.

Wright says while ICON is against both LB 571 AND 572, they’re in favor of another brand bill introduced by Senator Steve Erdman.

The Brand Bills are expected to be heard in the Unicameral on February 9.
