Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has signed into law a broadband expansion bill. State Corn Grower’s Association President Carl Jardon says improving that access for rural Iowa is badly needed and this measure will help.

He says there are several important uses for broadband and having improved access is critical to both Iowa’s ag and overall economies.

Jardon says his broadband service has been good but some of his group’s members still need better access or any access at all and hopefully this legislation provide that.

Reynolds says the broadband bill addresses a glaring need since Iowa has the second slowest broadband speed in the country. The measure provides $100 million for the grant program which will allow companies to apply for those state grants to help with installation.
