ICCI Wants New Water Rule Strengthened

ICCI Wants New Water Rule Strengthened

New Clean Water rules went into effect in Iowa this week. While the regulations call for inspections of large livestock operations and stricter enforcement of manure spills, environmental groups want even tougher rules. Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement’s State Policy Director Adam Mason says the Iowa D-N-R needs to be stricter with their enforcement.
Mason says permits need to be mandated by the D-N-R in order to help clean up the state’s waterways.
Mason says ICCI is also involved in a court challenge of the original vote by the State Environmental Protection Commission that sent this clean water rule forward. He says last week the State asked the court to dismiss their complaint and now they’re awaiting the Judge’s decision.
