Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement members will be pushing State Legislators to approve a moratorium on Confined Animal Feeding Operations this session. ICCI Organizer Jess Mazour says they’re not focusing on changing the Master Matrix which they’ve tried in the past but working for the moratorium instead.

She says the moratorium if approved would be on new or expanding medium or large ag operations.

Mazour says the size of the operations they’re targeting are swine facilities of 1250 or more and or those livestock operations that include 500 animal units or above.

Mazour says their main co-sponsor in the House is Representative Sharon Steckman of Mason City and their main Senate co-sponsor is Senator Claire Celsi of Des Moines.
