ICCI Supports WOTUS Proposed Rule

Monday, Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement members protested in Des Moines ahead of a meeting of stakeholders opposed to EPA’s proposed Waters of the U.S. Rule. ICCI State Policy Organizing Director Adam Mason says Governor Terry Branstad who’s against the rule organized the stakeholders meeting to gather more opposition to it.
Mason says ICCI wants EPA’s rule to be enacted because it will clarify the Clean Water Act.
He says there’s been a lot of misinformation put out by opponents to the proposed rule.
Mason says agricultural run off this year has caused toxic algae blooms in four different Iowa Lakes and increased levels of organic matter and ammonia in the state’s rivers.
