The Environmental Protection Agency received numerous comments at their hearing last week in Kansas City in support of their rewrite of the Clean Water Rule. Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement members have several concerns with the Waters of the U.S. rewrite. ICCI State Policy Director Adam Mason says they’re worried about the Clean Water Act regulations being weakened.

He doesn’t think the original WOTUS was an overreach of federal powers in regulating the nation’s waters.

Mason says waters in Iowa need stronger protection and having a solid WOTUS Rule in place is important to achieve that.

Mason says ICCI members will be filing their comments with the EPA on the WOTUS language.
